This download contains:
  • ASP.NET 4 Browser Definition Files -- You can use the new ASP.NET 4 browser definition files with earlier versions of ASP.NET such as ASP.NET 3.5 The updated ASP.NET 4 browser definition files contains browser definitions for recent browsers and devices such as Google Chrome and the IPhone.
  • Old Browser Definition files -- You can use the original browser definition files included with earlier versions of ASP.NET with ASP.NET 4. Install these files if you encounter compatibility issues when upgrading to ASP.NET 4.
  • Changes in Browser Capabilities with ASP.NET 4 -- This document lists the browsers and devices included in the ASP.NET 4 browser definition files. The document also explains how you can modify the browser definition files used by your ASP.NET application.

This is a great release! But the definition file "ie.browser" does not fully support IE10. Problem: The function __doPostBack is undefined. Solution: Get the hotfix from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2600100 and use the file "ie.browser" from machines/net20 or machines/net40 to replace the corresponding file in BrowserDefinitions.zip of this release.
